Today guys, I’d like to share with you a video that was posted by a friend of mine. It is an excerpt from one of my favorite documentaries, called The Examined Life. In this excerpt, noted feminist social philosopher Judith Butler takes a walk around San Francisco with a woman named Sunaura Taylor, a disabled New York transplants to San Francisco. What ensues is a very fascinating conversation about the social stigma attached to persons with physical disabilities, and the social limitations placed thereupon. It talks a lot about how we define normal, the concept of self image, social discomfort, lack of opportunity for gainful employment and other very fascinating things. I have some thoughts on the subjects that I will probably share later, but for now please enjoy the video and feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.
